Tank Locker Installation Instructions
and Additional Information
THANK YOU for your interest in and purchase of the
most unique and revolutionary motorcycle tank bag in the industry. Unlike
strapped or magnetic bags, Tank Locker is a model specific component
system installed on the fuel tank of your bike. These instructions along
with the information provided will help you understand the unique features
of this product. We urge you to retain these papers and have them stay
with the product in the event you sell or trade this system to someone
else. The serial number and application information will remain in our
database.
The Tank Locker component system includes;
-
tank bag equipped with the perimeter attachment
zipper
-
serial numbered base plate with perimeter zipper
and attached mount collar
-
gas tank mounted lock ring assembly including the
push-pin lock
-
two (2) lock keys
-
stainless steel mount bolts (3 or 4 depending on
application)
-
allen wrench for tightening the provided mount
bolts
The tank mounted lock collar comes pre-drilled in the
bolt pattern specific to the application. Before we begin the simple
installation, please lay the lock ring over your gas cap assembly and, by
centering the gas cap cutout and aligning the drilled holes, you can
determine which 3 or 4 bolts you’ll be removing.
As with the installation of anything….please proceed slowly
and don’t be in a hurry. This is VERY easy and simple to install, but
until you are familiar with how it mounts and works, just take it easy and
don’t rush it through. An extra 5 minutes spent in this process beats
waiting another week for the replacement part you had to buy to arrive by
mail.
We suggest you remove (unzip) the bag from the
baseplate so you aren’t dealing with the bulk of the bag while you
install this.
1. Remove the bolts matching the drilled pattern in
the gas tank mounted lock ring assembly from the perimeter mount
flange of your bike’s gas cap.
2. Place the lock ring assembly over the gas cap.
Mate the pre-drilled mount flange down against the gas cap assembly
mount ring, making certain the push-pin lock cylinder is at the 3 o’clock
position if you were looking down on it from sitting in the seat.
Using the bolts provided with the product, insert the bolts through
the pre-drilled holes and bolt the ring in position around the gas cap
using the bike’s factory mount holes.
3. NOTE: DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN THE BOLTS AGAINST
THE LOCK COLLAR. THIS IS A PLASTIC PIECE. IT MAY BE POSSIBLE TO CRACK
OR COMPROMISE THE LOCK RING BY OVER TIGHTENING THE BOLTS IN THE
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE. MAKE CERTAIN THEY’RE SNUG, BUT NOT
OVERTIGHTENED.
4. Place the system baseplate over the lock collar
pointed in the 11 o’clock position. Press the baseplate mount collar
into the tank mounted lock collar until you feel it “bottom out”.
Carefully turn the baseplate CLOCKWISE until it points straight
ahead or you can’t turn it any further. Press the lock-pin button
and you now lock the rings together, preventing the baseplate from
being turned counterclockwise and unlocked from the lock collar mount
pins.
5. To remove the baseplate…unlock the push pin
lock with the key provided. Turn the key clockwise
approximately 90 degrees or until you hear the lock “snap”. Turn
the baseplate COUNTERCLOCKWISE to the 11 o’clock position or
until it turns no further. Gently pull the baseplate STRAIGHT UP,
disengaging the baseplate from the tank mounted lock ring. It may be
necessary to slightly “wiggle” the unit as you pull up on it to
help slip it out of the collar.
6. Reattach (zip) the bag back on the baseplate.

uncertainties about installation or use of this product, PLEASE call us. 888.414.2903
Believe me, I know all too well what it’s like to not understand or
be uncertain about the installation or use of something you never saw
before. NOTHING is more frustrating. We want you to get this installed and
use it. IF it’s not going on or working as it should, then ring our
phone. Anytime. We’re going to be more upset than you are if we
find out you had some problem and didn’t contact us.
Your satisfaction with the product and installing it is
more important than our sleep or watching a re-run of Seinfield. We’re
here to do whatever it takes to make certain you are happy with our
products.
Important Key Information: We provide you with
two keys for your Tank Locker system. PLEASE DON’T LOSE THEM. The
reality here is that if you lose the key on a trip and can’t remove the
Tank Locker…you can’t put gas in your bike. We looked at some
emergency way to remove the thing, but…it can’t be done without a
serious compromise of the systems integrity. Just make sure you have a key
with you. IF the unthinkable happens, call us and we’ll Fed Ex you a key
overnite. It’s going to cost you, but….worst case scenario is you get
to spend a night in an out-of-the-way motel with a too small drip coffee
maker and powdered creamer in the room while you await the arrival of the
Fed Ex man and your Tank Locker replacement key. Not much fun.
Warranty Info: Your Tank Locker is warranted to the
